Supporting every step of your recovery journey
Ben Tan is the Founder and Principal Physiotherapist of MoveMed. He holds a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours from the University of Queensland, following a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences.
Before founding MoveMed, Ben worked at one of Singapore’s largest hospitals, where he managed a wide range of musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and post-operative conditions. His clinical experience includes helping patients recover after surgery, manage persistent pain and rebuild the strength and mobility needed for everyday life, work and sport.
A former Singapore national water polo athlete, Ben brings a strong understanding of physical performance, progressive training and the demands of returning safely to an active lifestyle. His approach combines clinical expertise with clear guidance, encouragement and rehabilitation tailored to each patient’s goals.
“Recovery is not only about treating an injury. It is about supporting each patient through the process, rebuilding confidence and helping them return to the life they want to live.”
A recovery plan built around the life you want to return to
Ben begins by understanding how an injury or condition is affecting each patient’s daily life, work, sport and confidence. From there, he develops a personalised rehabilitation plan that is practical, progressive and aligned with the patient’s own recovery goals.
He believes that effective rehabilitation requires more than reducing pain. It should help patients restore movement, rebuild strength and gradually regain trust in what their bodies can do.
Rehabilitation for recovery, performance and quality of life
Ben works extensively with patients recovering from orthopaedic surgery, musculoskeletal injuries, persistent pain and conditions that limit their ability to work, exercise or participate fully in everyday life.
Post-Operative Rehabilitation
Structured rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery, including progressive work on mobility, strength, function and return to daily activity or sport.

Recovery can involve uncertainty, setbacks and periods when progress feels slow. Ben combines clear planning with consistent support so patients understand where they are, what they are working towards and what comes next.
Understand the Starting Point
Ben listens carefully to each patient’s concerns, symptoms, previous treatment and personal goals before establishing a clear direction for rehabilitation.
Build Capacity Progressively
Exercises and physical demands are increased gradually, helping patients restore movement, strength and tolerance without progressing faster than their recovery allows.
Return with Confidence
Rehabilitation remains focused on meaningful outcomes, whether that means walking without support, returning to work, resuming training or participating fully in everyday life.
Recovery is ultimately about quality of life
Ben’s approach is grounded in the belief that healthcare should not focus only on treating a diagnosis. It should help people regain the freedom, independence and physical confidence that allow them to live well.
He takes time to listen attentively and understand what matters most to each patient. Rehabilitation is then adapted around those priorities rather than following the same standard plan for everyone.
An understanding of both performance and physical resilience
Ben represented Singapore in water polo from his school years through university. His sporting background gave him direct experience of structured training, physical preparation, competition and the demands athletes place on their bodies.
This perspective informs the way he approaches exercise rehabilitation today. He aims to challenge patients appropriately while remaining attentive to tissue recovery, movement quality and long-term physical health.
Ben’s patients frequently describe an approach that balances motivation with careful judgement. Progress is encouraged, but rehabilitation is adjusted when the body needs more time or a different strategy.

Trust the process, but remain actively involved in it
Meaningful recovery is usually built through consistent effort rather than one major breakthrough. Showing up for sessions, completing the agreed exercises and communicating openly about difficulties allows the rehabilitation plan to evolve with you. Progress may not always be linear, but each stage can contribute towards returning stronger, more capable and more confident.
